Structural Design Manager
Responsible for the overall management of their structural design team, including the mentoring team members, ensuring proper staffing levels, performance management.
Responsible for enhancing the overall quality of design, as well as developing the architectural business and enhancing the company image as a consultant of choice.
Management of client expectations in line with the contractual requirements with the client, including: managing change requests and variations; managing issues that arise from the contract with the client.
Assist the Business Development Department by providing advice regarding design resources, man hours and scheduling for proposals.
Ensuring the administration of Architectural projects is well managed, including using proper methods, tools and systems to ensure appropriate design coding, storage and retrieval of documentation.
Liaise with other technical departmental Directors and Managers regarding the design on projects including architectural and other engineering matters; cost management and quantity surveying.
Ensure the implementation of Architecture practices and procedures used by their team meet the standards established and expected of the Group.
Check thoroughly the design work undertaken by structural team members to ensure a high quality output reflective of the standards expected by the company, including minimization of design mistakes.
Previous experience managing architectural design teams, and provide them with leadership, mentoring and support.
Undertake structural calculations and analysis and produce safe, economic, efficient and buildable designs.
Liaise with CAD Manager regarding drafter training for REVIT.
Review Civil/Structural drawings and calculations, and sign, stamp and provide appropriate approval for Civil/Structural drawings where authorized.
Advanced knowledge of Structural Engineering Analysis & Design software packages (preferably ETABS, SAFE, RAPT, SPACEGASS, PLAXIS or SAP 2000) as well as CAD and general office software packages.
Knowledge of International Building Codes and Design Standards.
Leadership skills with the ability to manage teams with a strong results-Orientation.
