R & D Specialist/Officer
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The R&D Specialist II for Technology and Innovation Group assists in the technical advancement, cost and quality improvements, and upholding the quality standards through continuous innovation of non-core products and processes, and support of new business directions. Supports the manufacturing process by coming-up with re-engineered products, new and alternative raw materials and process re-engineering.
4. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
4.1. Product and Process Re-engineering
4.1.1. Develops in-house formulations of non-core materials and products
4.1.2. Handles commercial translations of re-engineered products
4.1.3. Conducts laboratory experiments and analysis to determine alternative raw materials and functional ingredient used in product improvement
4.1.4. Conducts cooking tests and holding tests of re-engineered products to ensure food safety parameters
4.1.5. Recommends preservation techniques to extend shelf life of raw materials and finished goods
4.1.6. Recommends and conducts relevant food testing procedures, as required by law, for raw materials and finished goods and performs analysis of results
4.2. Product Technology Transfer
4.2.1. Handles transfer and/or duplication of product technology of non-core products to toll processors
4.2.2. Participates in the technology transfer of core products to commissary or toll processors, to include accurate documentations
4.2.3. Participate in the review/study of food manufacturing equipment and process technology used in major food products for upgrading and updating
4.3. Product and Raw Material Standards and Alternatives
4.3.1. Develops and recommends product standards for new and re-engineered products
4.3.2. Prepares Raw Material Specifications for re-engineered products
4.3.3. Conducts evaluations of new raw materials
4.3.4. Develops test procedures for monitoring quality of new or alternative materials to include documentation
4.3.5. Prepares revision history of assigned re-engineered products
4.3.6. Responsible for safekeeping of highly confidential documents
REQUIREMENTS:
5.1. Education : B.S. Food Technology, BS Chemistry or BS Chemical Engineering
5.2. Experience : At least 4 years experience in R&D or Quality Assurance of reputable food companies, or Application Technologist from any multinational flavor companies. (Experience should be more on R&D)
5.3. Human Relations
5.3.1. Must have good interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively with people inside and outside the organization
5.4. Mental Effort
5.4.1. Must have good analytical skills
5.4.2. Must be very creative and innovative
5.5. Physical Effort
5.5.1. Exposure to kitchen heat during product testing/evaluation.
5.5.2. May be assigned to go on field for store and plant visits for compliance monitoring (including out of the country store visits)
